On the "Today" show Friday morning, host Matt Lauer was introducing a segment about the tribute being held for Diana, the Princess of Wales, and he mentioned Prince William's girlfriend, Kate Middleton, with the following question: "Many people are asking, will she be the next Diana?"
Given the circumstances, Lauer, who was sitting next to the dysfunctional Ann Curry, certainly could have, and should have, chosen his words better. With celebrity media-hounding becoming epidemic, one can only hope Lauer's words do not become sadly prophetic.
